Data backup for domain transfer (TQ00531)

Recommended action

A domain transfer also means cancelling your contract with your current provider.

You lose access to your account (and e-mails) as soon as the end of the contract is reached. To prevent data loss, we recommend that you make a local backup:

1. Download the free programme Mozilla Thunderbird ( https://www.thunderbird.net/de/ ).

2. Install Mozilla Thunderbird with the default settings.

3. Follow the automatic wizard to set up an email account.

4. Right-click on your account in the bar on the left and select "Settings".

5. Select "Copies & Folders".

6. Under "Message archive", select the settings "Folder 'Archive' in:" and "Local folders".

7. Click on Archive Options...

8. Select "Keep the folder structure of the account in the archive" and click on "OK".

9. Switch back to the mailbox view.

10. You can now move individual mails to the archive or select all mails in a folder (Ctrl + A) and click on the "Archive" button.

All retrieved e-mails are now backed up locally and can still be retrieved after the provider change.
